Welcome to My World! Look What I Did Today

A unique opportunity to explore a whole session at an outstanding Nursery School from a child and practitioner perspective. Spend the afternoon shadowing a practitioner and key children across all areas of the curriculum. Observe their routines, explore in depth: planning, environments, experiences and observations and tracking. Specific areas of interest can be explored further on request.

ICT and Tapestry

This session will give an insight into how to use Tapestry to record children’s learning journeys, share them with parents and use assessments on the system.

A hands-on session to show how we use tapestry in our nursery to record children’s learning journeys and engage with parents. This practical and theoretical workshop will explore how to use Tapestry to record children’s progress and their learning journey. The session if required will also explore how to use more analytical aspects of the ‘Tapestry’ package suitable for those considering using or just beginning to use the Tapestry package along with Managers and Senior Practitioners where tapestry is being used in the setting. (Please bring own device).

Starting With the Child: Observation and Planning Following a Child’s Agenda

How to plan your curriculum and environment to support a child centred approach in your setting. This is an opportunity to think deeply about how children learn and how to think creatively in planning first hand experiences for them An in action session, where staff will share examples of short term and medium term planning and discuss how observations are recorded and analysed for individual and groups of children, ensuring it is responsive to children’s own agenda’s, ideas and schematic play. A theoretical and thought provoking workshop exploring how to make observations and planning purposeful and links to the characteristics of effective learning.

One Page Profiles

An introduction to a child, capturing key information to assist in understanding and appreciating that young child’s world. (The Local Offer 2014)

This practical session will explore in depth the various methodologies around the construction and completion of one page profiles for young children. These profiles offer a plan of action to best meet the needs of children particularly children with Additional needs.
