Inclusion at the Heart

A unique opportunity to explore a whole day in the life of an outstanding Special school provision, from a child and Practitioner’s perspective. Spend the day shadowing a practitioner and key children across all areas of the curriculum. Observe their routines, explore in depth; planning, environments, experiences and observations and tracking. Specific areas of interest can be explored further on request.

SEND: Form Filling

How to successfully fill in SEND forms such as High Needs Funding, write advice for EHCP’s a Specialist Support Services check list to support children to receive the money and funding they are entitled to while they are in your setting.

One Page Profiles

An introduction to a child, capturing key information to assist in understanding and appreciating that young child’s world. (The Local Offer 2014)

This practical session will explore in depth the various methodologies around the construction and completion of one page profiles for young children. These profiles offer a plan of action to best meet the needs of children particularly children with Additional needs.

SEND: Watch Me Talk; Developing and Enhancing Early Language

Communication is a foundation skill for all children. This session will show how early language and communication skills can be provided for all children, but especially those with special educational needs. This practical session is an opportunity to also observe children with SEND using communication boards and low tech Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) in the continuous provision.

SEND: Altogether Now: Inclusive Practice and Provision for Supporting Children with SEND in Your Setting: Practice in Action

An opportunity to observe practice in action and consider provision for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within the nursery setting.

This practical session will also look at tracking children’s progress, explore and unpick planning and assessment for these children and gather ideas and strategies for use in your setting.

SEND: Provision Mapping

Exploring Provision Maps

Paragraph 6.76 of the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice explains that a provision map is: … An efficient way of showing all the provision that the Nursery of School makes which is additional to and different from that which is offered through the nursery or school’s curriculum…

This practical CPD session will explore ways of showing the range of provision available to children throughout the nursery to monitor, evaluate and plan the development of educational provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and disabilities. You will explore the benefits of provision mapping, observe examples and consider the creation of a provision maps for your own settings.

This workshop will also offer an opportunity to view the nursery without children present; therefore photographs of the environment can be taken.

SEND: Welcome Me In; Let Me Play

Supporting children with special educational needs learning and developing in the EYFS. Do you need support with the following: writing targets that involve small steps, 1-page profiles or provision mapping? How do you involve parents in children with SEN learning and development? This session will also provide practitioners with ideas that focus on exploratory play, strategies to develop independence within the learning environment and ways to promote expressive and receptive languages.
